We’ll also discuss two vital pats of the design process before agreeing to the project; We will discuss how much you wish to invest in the project and also establish a timeline—so you’ll know exactly when the transformation begins.

02 | Investment

At Rooms by Sandy, we understand that discussing your investment can feel a bit daunting—but it’s one of the most important parts of the initial consultation.

If you haven’t worked for a designer before, you may not know what furnishings or materials typically cost, and that’s okay. Sandy will guide you through the budgeting process, helping you establish an investment level that aligns with your goals and allows us to create a space you truly love.

Whether you’re designing a single room or your entire home, your investment helps determine the quality and scope of what we can include. We offer exclusive access to designer-only furnishings, custom upholstery, and made-to-order drapery. Sandy also partners with skilled American craftsmen and trusted international sources to bring in truly unique, high-quality pieces tailored to your space.

03 | Home Tour

Rooms by Sandy brings a lifetime of experience right to your door. Principal designer Sandy Schuster will be asking lots of questions because she wants an in-depth perspective of the project you have in mind.

The initial appointment typically lasts about an hour at your home or business. Larger projects may require more than one appointment. If you decide to work together Sandy will take photos and video, and measure the space during the design appointment. If there are multiple areas to be measured, she may bring an assistant or return another day.

Sandy will request a full house tour and you should mention any problem areas. She may even ask to see your closet to get an idea of the colors and patterns you wear. This is a time to get to know each other and decide how to move forward.

04 | Design & Presentation

Once you decide to move forward, the creative work begins at the Rooms by Sandy studio. Sandy thoughtfully develops floor plans, 3D renderings, and custom design concepts tailored to your space. Custom window treatments and upholstered furnishings are designed just for you, with fabric selections chosen to reflect both your lifestyle and aesthetic preferences. Lighting, accessories, and flooring are also carefully curated to complete the overall look and feel of your space.

Before your presentation, we confirm product availability with our trusted suppliers and finalize all details to ensure a smooth experience. During the presentation—when all decision-makers are present—Sandy will walk you through the complete design plan, sharing her vision for your home. Together, you’ll review every detail and make any needed adjustments. Once the final design is approved, we move forward with a signed agreement and payment—marking the exciting next step toward bringing your dream space to life.

05 | Behind the Scenes

Once the design plan is complete, Sandy’s team start ordering furniture and furnishings from multiple vendors nationally and internationally. The design team will keep you informed of their progress and how the project is developing.

As your products are ordered from a wide range of vendors, items arrive individually and are stored together safely until everything arrives. Some things may arrive within weeks, custom items may take several months depending on  availability and production schedules.

06 | The Final Reveal

If your project involves renovations, that work will be completed before installation begins. Paint and wallpaper may be applied earlier to ensure your new custom furnishings are protected and pristine. No matter the scope of the project, you can look forward to the most exciting part—installation day.

This is when everything comes together. To ensure a smooth and seamless experience, Sandy and her team manage all final details on-site, including overseeing subcontractors as they install window treatments, hang lighting, and place each piece perfectly. We recommend stepping away during this time so the transformation can unfold without interruption.

Once every element is in place and the space is picture-perfect, Sandy will invite you back for the big reveal. There’s nothing quite like walking into your home and seeing your vision brought to life. It’s a moment of joy—and one of the many reasons why working with Rooms by Sandy is such a worthwhile investment.
